Utility Standards: This evaluation plan will address scope and selection by involving all grade 10 students (who have experienced PLT) in an anonymous survey (breadth), and from there a randomized sample of participants for the focus group (depth). Also contributed to this data will be an anonymous survey collected from staff members. The guiding questions indicated and edited since Module 1 will act as values identification and assist with the report clarity.
Feasibility Standards: This evaluation plan meets the standards of being “realistic, prudent, diplomatic, and frugal” (Program evaluation standards, p. 1) in the conciseness of the survey (Likert-scale Q’s; maximum 10 questions) and of the focus group meeting (a lunch-time session, given the school context, of perhaps 20-30 minutes). Cost will be kept to a minimum, as participation is voluntary and unpaid.
Propriety Standards: A safe and respectful environment will be upheld through participant/ respondent confidentiality, storage of data, and unbiased interactions in the in-person focus group. A service orientation will be upheld through the maintenance of the primary purpose and goals of the program evaluation: all participants and researchers will be reminded of the underlying reason for this program evaluation, being how to increase student academic success and staff time management/ wellness. Accuracy Standards: This evaluation meets accuracy standards in the careful documentation and multi-layered analysis of evidence. As indicated prior, while one person will not be hired purely for transcription purposes, focus group data will be recorded for objectivity to complement the researcher’s notes. Analysis will occur as descriptive first, and then interpretive analysis to be “appropriately and systemically analyzed” (Program Evaluation Standards, p.3)
